This is a simple process, of being enabled by me, to go more
deeply into your own experience of what has been happening to
you, by talking about it! Many of us, when faced with difficulties,
will shut down. This can occur because we are afraid of what
we might uncover. Thoughts, feelings and negative past experiences
threaten to overwhelm us if we acknowledge them. The simple truth
is often, that the past no longer has the power to frighten us
because we have moved on, but we do not understand this fact!
Sometimes, we will find ourselves referring to, or talking about,
some traumatic past event as something that deeply distressed
or upset us, only to realise that it has now lost all ability
to affect us. We might have been seeing events through the eyes
of the person we were at the time, or still feeling the pain
of rejection about a failed relationship or marriage. Perhaps,
now, by talking about what really hurt us at the time, we realise
at last, that it really doesn’t matter anymore!
Talking is a cathartic experience, and enables you to move on!
“Cognitive Behaviour Therapy”
This approach, I believe, achieves results in moving people towards
positive action in their lives.
Our ‘cognitions’ mean that we have acquired a certain way of
looking at life based on our experience of it! This can be through
thoughts, experiences and very much what we sense about ourselves.
Family life that has been loving and supportive encourages us
to develop our potential and find fulfilment through loving relationships,
and developing innate skills and abilities. Unfortunately, for
some of us, life has not felt positive at all, so we can easily
fail because self-belief is absent. Our mindset may encourage
us to this end, because we don’t feel worthy of success!
It is possible that working with me, will encourage you to start
challenging the ‘Status Quo’! You may think, what have I got
to lose? The courage of trying to do something can have far reaching
results. The first small success will start the change process
in your belief system!
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is well respected for dealing effectively
with Stress, Anxiety and Depression.
